Expressive Typography

Integrate a linear short story--written collectively with group members--with an expressive typographic composition based on the animal character you are developing.

The story that my group decided to emulate is The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. We chose this story as the foundation of our project because the animals masks in the group had personalities that lent themselves to several of the characters in The Outsiders.

The class is structured in a way that allowed for eperimental type treatments. This lead to the idea that each group member would incorporate a handwritten quote of their choosing and integrate it with photography.
This is a draft of the photo treatment. A similar style can be found in the final layout.
Final Layout. Dimensions: 22" x 17"
In order to hone in and understand the animal mask we were given the task of creating a collage piece that includes elements and characteristics of the creature. Since I was given a Wolf mask I chose to form its face and use the strips of magazine text to create a texture.
