A Perfect Pairing.

Festival Time in the South
We all know about festival season in Savannah. The movie buffs just had their week, the musicians had theirs just before that. The runners among us will be sporting their great legs this weekend. Once they are done, it then becomes a week for food lovers. Much in the same way “The Hurt Locker” was screened here at the Savannah Film Festival as a relatively unknown before going on to an Oscar for Best Picture, there are a good many chefs coming to your city to share their talents with you. Chefs who have already won the highest honor in American cuisine or still others that might eventually do so. It’s a true sampling of the best in Southern cuisine on display here in lil’ ol’ Savannah.

Food and wine a perfect pairing
The Savannah Food & Wine Festival returns, bringing the best of Savannah's cuisine and wine selection, and featuring appearances from celebrity chefs from around the Southeast. It's an event any food and wine connoisseur won't want to miss. The festival raises money for a variety of charitable causes. The inaugural event in 2013 raised more than $50,000 for causes like the Savannah Harbor Foundation, America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia and United Way of the Coastal Empire. The festival is held in November as a way to support our business partners and serves as a boost for the local economy in a slower part of the tourism season.

According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, last year’s event reported $1.8 Million dollars spent by those who attended the festival in economic impact to the Savannah area. An estimated $483,007 was spent on hotels and lodging, $104,038 in retail sales, and $195,774 was spent on food and beverage. Guests of the 2013 Savannah Food & Wine Festival enjoyed over 9 thousand bottles of wine and spirits, as well as 60 kegs of beer from all over the world. This year’s event is shaping up to be double those numbers.
