The Midseason Garden- floral textile prints

As part of a module aimed at learning basics in print making, I had to pick up inspiration from around me to come up with a floral print. This print that was developed from a rough sketch was then transferred onto fabrics by the technique of screen printing.
I chose a particular plant I found as my inspiration and the changes that come by with each passing season as the factor governing my colour selections. Sans any flowers , this quote sums up my choice perfectly-

"Anyone can love a rose, but it takes a great deal to love a leaf."

Motifs were hand drawn and placed selectively in different repeat patterns before deciding on the best suited one.
Some pen and ink explorations to decide on the colour division.
A final repeat in Leaf green and Turquoise. The green is used to highlight the beautifully sparse structure of the leaves.
The final print
Another colour co-ordinate
Some hand painted co-ordinates for borders
Screen printed fabrics depicting the chronology of a leaf
The bright blues and greens of a mid summer day
The turning of leaves into a purple haze with the advent of autumn
The fiery reds of mid autumn
The shrivelled browns as autumn ends
Dust at last, dust and gravel.
