25th anniversary of the French section
The French Section of the Taipei European School (SFEET) along with the German and British sections constitute a unique European learning environment. The original concept, a piece of Europe immersed in Taiwan, allows our students to discover different European academic cultures and promotes the acquisition of communication skills both in English and Chinese, which are rarely accessible in France.
台北歐洲學校法國部的二十五週年標誌設計，以中國印章的元素為架構呈現至標誌上。將西洋與東方的元素結合是一個有趣的挑戰，設計時其中參考許多古時篆刻結構以便規劃形體框架，並刻意讓邊框呈現不規則的粗糙狀態，使標誌避免過於生硬死板，其設計成果成功達到理想的平衡。
The client of this case is the French section of the European school in Taipei, who would like to create a logo featuring the Chinese seal elements on the design for celebrating their twenty-fifth year. It is an interesting challenge to combine Western and Chinese cultures. I checked up many references relating to the structures of Zhuanke (seal carving) for inspirations to create letters uniquely for my client. The outline of the letters are designed to look rough and bumpy for portraying the characteristics of Zhuanke, as well as to appeal less blunt.
