Operation Beautiful was started by a Charlotte, NC based healthy living blogger who was tired of seeing negative self talk among her peer group. She started leaving anonymous notes in public bathrooms to remind the next person who happened upon it that they are beautiful, just the way they are. Other people saw these notes and followed suit.
The concept behind this ad series was to take all of the negative things our inner voice (or other people) might say about us and put it in the background. Replacing the negative talk with one colorful inspirational quote that would make the person reading it think about how they see themselves and the others around them. I asked for help to fill in the background with actual negative thoughts from people that I know. I then handwrote the Post-It note quotes and brought the series together through the use of color so that the focus is on the colorful Post-It.
