Things Made Big, UMN, Fall 2013

For this project students chose a small, everyday object to blow up 5, 10 or more times the original scale. Students were charged with leaping the Uncanny Valley and recreating the fit, finished, color, textures, logos and shapes of their original objects. All without the aid computer-aided software or computer-driven machinery!

This is one of my favorite projects produced in this class. The work has a sense of fun and ridiculousness and the students learn a tremendous amount about the importance of attention to detail, finishing, carving, model construction and creating a convincing object.
