Memory, Master's Thesis work

Memories feel like a tangible thing, and yet... In my graduate thesis I explored making memory a tangible thing. Something the evokes and stirs and also gives the viewer something to hold onto, wrap themselves in, surround themselves with. Utilizing hand-painted warps I examined the way in which our oldest memories seem to get washed out over time. Images distorted and changed over time. The natural yellowing we seem to associate with all things aged. Many images of my own family made their way into jacqaurds and textures.

Creating this work felt like sharing my family's photo albums, inviting the public to touch and feel the things that make my family memories precious while also inviting them to feel the stirring of their own nostalgia.
