De nuevo en mis manos, esparcí los alambres sobre la mesa.
Al ver aquel conjunto ordenado de formas sin vinculación entre sí, asocié esta imagen con las páginas de un diccionario. Formas sueltas sin sentido que, como las palabras, parecían buscar una frase que las completara y les diera sentido.
Así nació este proyecto. Mi propósito era dotar a cada una de esas formas de un contexto que le diera sentido. Crear unas piezas capaces de sugerir sensaciones, imágenes y conceptos.
Upon picking it up once again, I spread the wires over my desk.
On seeing that arrangement of unrelated shapes, I associated the image with pages in a dictionary. Individual shapes that made no sense, just like words, that seemed to be in search of a sentence that would complete them and give them meaning.
That is how this project came about. My purpose was to give each of these shapes a context that would give them meaning; to create pieces capable of suggesting sensations, images and concepts.
Para llevar adelante el proyecto me planteé estudiar de cada alambre las distintas fuerzas que generan sus curvas y elegir la posición en el espacio que acentúe al máximo su ritmo visual y el movimiento de su silueta.
In order to take the project forward I set about studying, for each piece of wire, the different forces generated by its curves and chose the spatial position that would most emphasise its visual rhythm and the movement of its outline.
Para mantener la pieza erguida recurrí a unos pequeños pedestales de cemento de color blanco que me permitían mantener el alambre en la posición que consideraba óptima.
To keep the piece upright I employed small pedestals made of white cement that allowed me to position the wire in what I felt to be the optimum position.
También busqué fragmentos de otros materiales que acompañaran sus formas desnudas. Estos nuevos materiales además de servir de contrapunto compositivo a la pieza, aportaban nuevos argumentos y significados a la obra.
I also sought out fragments of other materials that would accompany these naked shapes. As well as offering a compositional counterpoint to the piece, they contributed new and meaning to the work.
