The proposed and unselected key visuals created for THIEVES – An Auction of Stolen Art, the fundraising gala dinner and auction to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the art space THY LAB in Sham Shui Po, Kowloon, Hong Kong. As a response to the theme of stolen art, the key visual is based on the artistic calligraphy of the Chinese character of Thieves – 賊, paradoxically visuallized in orthodox, ornamental and posh cursive style, making a stark contrasting metaphor with the concept of stealing. The translucency of the poster visuals represents the uncertainty and invisibility of the artpieces and the silent auction event.
