Pencil Portrait of Robin Williams by Julio Lucas

As a child I was entertained by Robin Williams in films like Popeye, Hook, Aladdin and Mrs. Doubtfire. Later his creativity inspired me to remain true to myself and that humor can be found everywhere even in times of strife. In a way I looked up to Robin Williams, sadily his days of comedy are over. But the impression he left through his acting, public speaking and comedy will live on for decades.

“Please, don’t worry so much. Because in the end, none of us have very long on this Earth. Life is fleeting.” - Robin Williams

As a simple thank you I created this graphite pencil drawing of the late great Robin Williams and thought I would share it with the Behance Community. This could be my favorite portrait todate!
To create the dark areas in the drawing I used a Lyra Rembrandt - Carbon 308/3 pencil. I created the highlights in the hair by using a Pitt Pastel Medium (white color) Faber-Castell pencil.
The line work in the skin was created by using a 4 H and HB Faber-Castell pencil. I used the carbon and pastel pencils to enhance the eyes.
I love drawing people with graphite pencils. Mostly because dimples and skin texture can easily be achieved by using your fingers to smudge in color over a medium grain paper surface.
