Zombie Pumpkin Carving by Julio

It's been a while since I have posted on Behance; like most of us, I have been super busy working away on projects. This week I was able to carve out some time and work on this Jack O'Lantern.

This year I wanted to push my Jack O'Lantern a bit further than an average carving and had a lot of fun doing it.

Sometimes photos do not do a craving justice so, I also included the video below. I created a decent amount of depth with this carving which you can see better in the video.
The head is made of Pumpkin. The eyes and teeth are made of Russet Potatoes. The pupils are made from Rainbow Carrots. The veins on the eyes are made from Pumpkin Inners, and lastly, the tongue is made from a Sweet Potato.
Some 3D Pumpkin carvings do not glow well or not at all. One of my favorite aspects of a Jack O'Lantern is the feeling you get when you see it glows. So, I wanted this 3D Pumpkin carving to feel like a Jack O'Lantern at night. To help with the glowing, I carve out a decent amount of pumpkin on the inside also. Which allows the light to glow through.
I thought it would be cool to use the Pumpkin Inners as veins for the eyes in addition to using Purple Rainbow Carrots for the Pupils.
I used Russet Potatoes for the teeth. Potatoes begin to turn brown over time, which works well for a rotting Zombie Pumpkin.
I made the tongue from a Sweet Potato. It came kinda real looking and gross. Which worked out well for a Zombie Pumpkin.
I learn something new with each pumpkin carving, and since I mainly only carve these once a year, I always look forward to the experience.
