This is a reproduction of the 'DRG class 24', a steam locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
The project is a 3d real time rendered, so what you are seeing is the video game model with a normal map, or commonly called a "low poly".
A version of this model is planned for Train Simulator 2014 too.
The mechanism with rods is rigged and animated.
The entire locomotive with tender and coal, counts 76 000 triangles.
The texturing is composed of three sets of 2048² maps ( albedo - specular - gloss - normal - ambient occlusion).
