KIWI LEP Tin for 'Step Up' Campaign

Kiwi 'Step Up' Campaign LEP Illustrations
KIWI is an iconic brand in Kenya, with a strong heritage and social awareness. Synonymous with school uniforms and polished children's shoes, KIWI is part of the popular culture. Anchored in nostalgia and part of the school routine, the brand is still loved by people, but with COVID-19 impact and the evolution of our society's consumer behaviors have changed and decreased many products' relevance in the daily life. Where others have stepped back, Kiwi will step up.
The Brief
The campaign involves showing how the brand steps up for the community through investment in education and sharing this message through limited-edition tins that reflect all the things that are beautiful about Kenya: as a bright lively melting pot of different cultures and a strong promoter of the value of education for its youth.
The Approach
This was a unique chance to design my own limited edition of the iconic KIWI tin inspired by the nostalgic memories of being a Kenyan school kid . It was also an opportunity to interpret the brand and the essence of our Step-up campaign and be part of an initiative that is designed to make a real difference for the community.

I began with 6 interpretations exploring the themes of education, community and stepping up. This stage also involved coming up with supporting phrases that reinforced and elaborated the visual messaging.
The 'Climbing Together' visual was the preferred direction and the next step was exploring 1:1 iterations of the same that can be used in different layouts/contexts and to apply to different media such as socials, film, print and product.
