Miklos Ybl architect was a prominent and outstanding figure of the 19th-century's historicist architecture in Hungary and Europe. As a celebration of the 200thanniversary of Ybl’s birth, The Hungarian Poster Association and the Association of Hungarian Architects organized “YBL200” invite-only poster contest, where 20 excellent designers participated with their 44 submitted artwork.

The challenge was to create posters what represents and honors Ybl’s lifework.

As an invitee I created piece. I did not go for the obvious choice of using buildings as elements, rather picked clay as my main material and formed the letters and numbers YBL 200 from it. Each character is a unique shaped model. In the background I placed some of the architect’s sketches, one of them is the technical drawing of the famous spiral staircase from YBL Palace.

Only 37 posters were worthy to be presented in the closing event, a great volume Exhibition. The Jury selected my artwork as the winning piece. A catalogue was also issued with the posters.
