Desire Algorithm
A flowchart that allows a consumer to balance their
desires against their rational expectation of a product.
Concept
Desire is an emotion that every consumer has. This emotion is constantly attacked by brands and marketers to create desire around their products. Desire is constantly being investigated by brands, psychologists and marketers and is not 100% understood. Their are a lot of theories that surround the emotion but with no definitive answer as to what causes desire it is a field full of confusing a conflicting research.

This diagram collates a lot of that research to balance a consumers desire against their realistic expectation of a product. By leading the viewer through 6 different sections that make up desire the chart can determine whether the product is the perfect product for both their desires and needs.

Design
The design leads the viewer through different sections by asking a series of questions about a product that they desire. The diagram is designed to replicate the confusing nature of desire while also being able to be decoded and solved if looked at deeper.

Working to a strict grid the flowchart comes together as a labyrinth that can be navigated in a certain way. The type, Univers, is set consistently throughout the design. Creating a consistent chart was important so it did not look messy and make it even more confusing.

Each section has been given a certain colour and the numbers and letters navigate the viewer through the images. Every design element is important to the navigation of the eye of the viewer.
7 Steps. Start, Product, Brand, Element, Complete, Success, Perfect.
6 Elements. Brand Appearance, Function, Style, Trends, Reviews, Price.
