The design of Ely Café is carefully crafted to offer patrons a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable experience. LOCATION AND CONTEXT

Ely Café is situated within the prestigious Wake building, nestled in the vibrant city of Medellin. This location adds an extra layer of sophistication and prestige to the café's design concept.

Taking inspiration from the Wake building's architectural elements, such as its sleek lines and modern facade, the main goal was to create a design for Ely Café that complements the building's aesthetic while still maintaining its unique character. By incorporating industrial and French design elements, the café becomes a harmonious extension of the building's contemporary atmosphere.

CONCEPT

The industrial aspect is brought to life through exposed concrete walls, which add texture and character to the space. The high ceilings provide an opportunity to showcase minimalist lighting fixtures, creating a warm and intimate ambiance. The incorporation of weathered wooden furniture and sleek metal accents further enhances the industrial feel, while ensuring comfort and functionality.

In terms of layout, we aimed to create distinct zones that cater to different experiences. The seating area is thoughtfully arranged to provide cozy nooks for relaxation, while also allowing for larger communal tables to encourage social interactions. The placement of comfortable leather chairs and seats invites patrons to linger and enjoy their time in the café.

LIGHTNING

The lighting design plays a crucial role in creating a cozy atmosphere. Soft, warm lighting fixtures are strategically placed to cast a gentle glow, enhancing the intimate and welcoming ambiance of the space. The lighting also highlights key features and areas of interest, creating focal points within the café.

DETAILS AND MATERIALS

A careful selection of materials, such as reclaimed wood, vintage-inspired textiles, and subtle color palettes, further enhances the overall design concept. These elements work harmoniously to create an environment that is visually appealing, comfortable, and captures the essence of both the industrial and Ely's DNA aesthetics.
