With the 2020 fall semester, the University of Kansas was faced with opening campus after the lock-downs during the COVID-19 pandemic. New protocols had to be communicated to our population with consistent messaging. I created an identity system and icon set to illustrate these novel protocols. With Facilities providing the lists of needed signs, I created a set of 34 signs to be used in campus buildings and shared that set with our partners in Housing, the Libraries and the Kansas Union. This project was challenging as the work needed to be complete in a very short time frame, frequently updated policies, and the need to improvise key processes, such as desktop printing.
