In this book, Walter Gropius, the founder of the Bauhaus and the leader of the Modern Architecture, clarified the new architectural concept of pursuing standardization and process, and vigorously advocated the development of modern design education. He proposed that he should formulate two teaching modes of practical teaching and formal teaching for Bauhaus students, teaching them the use of basic tools, the basic properties of materials, the theory of design expression, the knowledge of art and science, and even the knowledge of finance, so as to provide students with a good all-round training from hand to eye.
