The Nest Home Spin and Texutres
My main task within the team was to build the house spin. It needed to be fairly close to a previously animated version that Oddfellows did for the first Nest spot. It was helpful to my workflow to do the turn in C4D and then comp the colors, various layered details, and the textures in After Effects.
The entire project was covered in textures and effects like roughened lines. After hours of building animation then came hours of stylization. Just feels so much better after all those final details.
The Devices
Whats really interesting about the above sequence is that I spent two weeks working on a different sequence for this section. The previous design and animation was so abstract that we couldn't clear it with the client. As we approached the end of the project we scrapped the previous design and pumped this section out in two days and the result is a thousand times better. Pretty funny how a two day sprint can crush a two week haul. It wasn't all a loss, we learned a lot about the assets and the client during that first two weeks.
This was a fun shot to figure out. Set up in Cinema 4D and then handed off to another animator/designer for the finish work. Figuring out things like the walls perspective and the stair paralax was my main focus. The other artist brought in details like the laundry and furniture to really make it pop. Loved how this shot turned out.
