The Amazon Rainforest is facing an unprecedented threat.
Even so, who should be in its defense, is perhaps, who puts it most at risk.
So, we took an unprecedented action, and use the UN Refugee Convention to transform the Jatobá - a native tree - in the first refugee tree. So, it doesn’t becomethe last of its kind.
My role: Creative Director and Design
The Jatobá is one of the most beautiful and oldest species of tree in Brazil. Today its existence is threatened by fires and by the advance of agribusiness in the country. And the federal government isn't doing enough.
So we decided to apply a Jatobá Tree for asylum in order to get international awaresness for these problems in Brazil and to find help for those especies.
At the end of 2020, Norway agreed to grant asylum to our tree in its embassy where international protection laws apply.
