Dark skies off Fiji

I’m excited to share with you my recent work “Dark skies off Fiji” I created this painting recently and it is the 45th in a continuing series exploring the spirit of adventure in us all. New horizons, unexpected voyages, mysterious revelations, friendships rekindled and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our worlds.

The small craft descended through thick banks of cloud. An endless deep expanse of darkening sky then thinner lower down, until they broke through only a thousand feet above the waves.

Ray watched the huge swells far below and focused on guiding the vessel towards the island of Fiji in the far distance.

Her companion napped below in the roomy sleeping quarters after and exciting voyage out beyond the stratosphere where she’d seen the stars for the first time in her life from space and marvelled at their brightness and the vast expanse of them undiluted by the atmosphere.

After a few days on the island they would head south again and travel to a few more destinations and stop at another undisclosed location unbeknown to Mia which would be a surprise for her.

Ray was looking forward to introducing her friend to more of their people and catching up with her close friends there too…
