Approaching Mirador

I’m excited to share with you my recent work “Approaching the fortress of Mirador” I created this painting over 6 weekends and it is the 6th in my new series exploring the dreamer in us all. New worlds, unexpected voyages, mysterious revelations, new friendships and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our universe.

Dark waters rushed past the three pods as they travelled through the deep ocean. Rayna looked ahead and saw the glowing bubbles of her companions as they made their approach to the fortress at Mirador.

For two days they had travelled in the pods refuelling at Kortem deep station for 5 hours before departing.

They surfaced near the fortress at sunset and would navigate a series of caves a few hundred meters away which would bring them close to the imposing structure.

They had been given a mission to rescue Professor Uli the leading authority on thermodynamics and nano engineering who’s brilliance would give them the ability to harness the energy from the recently harvested element Terantium.

He had been captured 6 months earlier by the local overlord Ganum Dako, and hadn’t been heard from since. In the past few days Dako’s daughter Raven had made contact and confirmed Uli was alive and being held in the dungeons of the great fortress.

Raven had become an undercover agent several years earlier after the death of her mother in what had been reported as a terrible accident, the truth she’d discovered was more sinister. She realised that she could be valuable to the cause by remaining involved in the murky underworld of her fathers illegal enterprises.

The rendezvous would be in 30 minutes so they moved swiftly along the subterranean passages in anticipation of reaching their destination.
