Foster App

The Brief: To concept, design, and prototype an app that is currently needed within a specific market. This entire project was done over the course of 7 weeks. As my first full introduction to UI/UX design and in conjunction with balancing 3 other classes and an internship, the project definitely pushed me all the way to the end.

As the world moves further away from paper/pencil applications, it is important that work is done to help non-profit animal shelters be known and get volunteers. Foster is meant to clean up the volunteering process for shelters, and aims to encourage a younger audience (who is probably already interested in fostering, but may not be willing to jump through the hoops of applying in person) to sign up to help their local shelters by taking in animals when shelters fill up.

Deliverables
+ Logo / Branding
+ App Design

1. Branding

The Audience: Foster aims to appeal to a younger audience by using a friendly custom word-mark as their logo, in conjunction with a simple tagline and app icon. The concept revolves around the idea of helping an animal find forever by fostering them.
The simplicity and cleanliness of the brand gives it a youthful edge when compared to it's (very few) competitors on the app store. The bright, trendy colors grab the target audience's attention.
2. Designing the App

A lot of the initial planning for the app itself involved creating UX maps and wire-framing what the pages would look like, and deciding which pages would best tell the story.
3. Highlighted Features

After much planning, trial-and-error, and back and forth on what pages I wanted to fully flesh out, I ended up telling the story of Foster using the app pages below.
