Having lived in the Lake District since birth I have been exposed to many examples of local souvenirs and gifts. As a designer I am partly amused, partly appalled by how aesthetically poor the majority of these products are. My intention through this project was to design good quality products using local materials where possible, and to look beyond the project at potentially starting a small business that could contribute to the regions economy and possibly make a profit. Through this I hoped to expand on my skills as a designer and produce a high quality portfolio piece.
