Sustained Investigation #7

                           Sustained Investigation #7
This project is based on my sustained investigation about a depiction of Mexican Culture in the United States. I decided to do a Christmas tree and hang ornaments of Mexican traditions on the holiday.

For the background I used a Christmas themed room and cropped it to leave out the tree. This would allow for the environment around the tree to seem more holiday like.
I then looked up a picture of a Christmas tree and placed it into my background. I used the quick selection tool and rasterized the image. I then selected the inverses and deleted the original background from the tree.
I looked for ornaments online that could interpret Mexican traditions. The first ornament is a pinata. Pinata's are a large part of Mexican parties and are used to celebrate an occasion. For this pinata it resembles the star that was in the sky on December 24th.

The second ornament includes the name of Mexico and many objects that are important to the country.
The third is an ornament of a tamale. A tamale is a traditional Mexican holiday food that can come in different flavors such as sweet with raisins and savory with hot spices.
The last ornament is a representation of a Jarron made with clay. A jarron is a traditional cup made with clay that is decorated with different shapes.
I then placed each ornament on my project used a quick selection tool and rasterized each picture. I selected the inverse and deleted the rest of the background. I then copy and pasted each ornament multiple times to fill the tree.
I then used a picture of an angel I found online and used the same process as the ornaments.

Lastly I used the filter gallery and used the paint daubs filter to make my Christmas tree complete.
