Rendezvous in Grenada

I’m delighted to share with you this recent paintiing “Rendezvous in Grenada” I painted this recently, and it is the 24th in a continuing series exploring the spirit of adventure in all of us. Distant shores, great voyages, friendships rekindled and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our world.

Day 47
Grenada

I stood on the end of the pier looking out at the ominous heavy skies of the southern Caribbean. It was late and the hurricane season was imminent so I needed to head south without delay.

The minutes crawled by slowly, I felt anxious and hoped he’s come. The sun was low and I looked at my shadow cast by its fading rays.

My silhouette showed a slim figure, I’d been swimming and generally spending many hours beneath the ocean revelling in the crystal Caribbean waters and was lean with my daily excursions through kelp forests and coral canyons.

Suddenly out of nowhere a shadowy figure approached and greeted me with a nod. He dispensed with courtesies, and instead handed me an envelope. I asked him what it was but he simply replied “wait for the midday sun on the 17th day and you will discover what you seek!”

I thanked him and he strode away, seeming to dissolve into the mist within a dozen strides.

I pocketed the envelope and made my way back to my vessel, I would head south, I had many days of travel ahead of me and time was short…
