Grafikmagazin 02.21

Let’s talk about Grafikmagazin 02.21

In this issue of Grafikmagazin the focus lies on »Corporate Communication« and in our Grafik+ section we talk to Armin Reins about corporate language and how social media necessitates a new way of writing. We show how bike manufacturer Brompton and bag producer Freitag teamed up to combine intelligent design and innovative transportation. And we take a closer look at Olivetti, a strong brand and a pioneer of corporate communication.
Content

In our design & research section we take a look at the »school of no consequences«, an artistic intervention to promote a lifestyle that aims to do no harm. Readability is an essential part of the work of graphic designers, yet when it comes to regulations like »easy language« designers are seldom heard. Why is that and how can we as experts make ourselves heard, asks Sabina Sieghart. In this issue Jonas Höschl is a guest in our photography section and we present »A study in Magenta« – a detective story set amongst printers and paper aficionados.

In our Showroom we talked to two stars of Dutch graphic design: Linda van Deursen and Armand Mevis. Studio Es from Vienna takes a fresh look at Corporate Design and Polish illustrator Dagna Szwaja used the pandemic to develop her style.

The cover

For the cover of this issue we used the paper Curious Skin Absynthe by Antalis. The colour is really stunning and the surface fells warm and soft. The design looks a communication in an ironic way and quotes spam mail wisdom like: do you remember tomorrow?
Hot foil stamping makes the speech bubbles come to life whenever the holographic foil catches the light.

Paper: Antalis
Offset printing: f&w Medien
Print finishing: Gräfe Druckveredelung
Hot foil: Kurz
