When you think of renewable energy, solar is usually one of the first things that comes to mind and being in the business of energy generation, entering the solar market was a natural step for BioLite. After extensive research, the team found that while the core silicone solar cell technology was actually quite good, there wasn’t much innovation in the way personal scale solar panels looked & functioned. And when it came down to it, the user experience was suboptimal. Aligning a solar panel to the sun to get the optimal charge isn’t common knowledge and when misalignment can lead to losing up to 30% of watts available, there was a big opportunity. BioLite set out to make a more intuitive solar panel that maximized a user’s charge from the sun.
The BioLite SolaPanel 10+ powers devices with 10 watts of usable electricity. The integrated analog sundial helps users align to the sun to capture direct rays while the 360 degree kickstand simplifies positioning on uneven terrain. Using a flexible ETFE lamination process BioLite was able to make the solar panel lightweight, thin, and flexible while maintaining its durability. The panel’s foldable design and durability makes it easy to pack for any adventure. The integrated 3200mAh battery allows users to keep devices charged even when they aren’t in the sun.
