Wild seas off Antrim

I’m delighted to share with you this recent painting ”Wild seas off Antrim” I painted this on Saturday, and it is the eighth in a new series exploring the spirit of adventure in all of us. Distant shores, great voyages, friendships rekindled and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our world.

It had been a beautiful afternoon, with a few clouds on the horizon. Mia’s journey around the Emerald
Isle had taken four days and shewould soon depart its shoresheading north east.

As she prepared the craft for departure a wind suddenly rose from the east and darker clouds appeared on the
horizon moving fast.

The weather could be unpredictable here and she trimmed the rigging and delayed her departure keeping near the coast in case she had to find a port.

The wind whipped up the seas which began to heave as the swells grew more every minute.

She always found this exhilarating  and remembered her years of experience with these huge seas  keeping the craft on course, navigating the storm which lasted over half an hour then blew itself out.

Now she could correct her course, head to the north east and the next destination in her epic voyage…
