Joel Vandenbrink's profile

Washington's National Park Fund - Mission and Strategy

A Washington-based business leader and executive, Joel Vandenbrink led Seattle Cider Company and Two Beers Brewing Company and was in charge of the two companies' day-to-day operations. To give back to the community, Joel Vandenbrink has also volunteered with several local nonprofits, including Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, and Washington National Park Fund (WNPF).

The official partner of three major parks in Washington D.C. Olympic National Parks, North Cascade, and Mount Rainier, Washington National Park Fund raises private support through funding to enhance visitors' experience in the parks. Over the last decade, WNPF has awarded a cover of $5.85 million to support projects in the three parks.

WNPF works with the respective superintendents of the three parks to determine top priority projects to fund. Some of the facilitated work include shrinking glacier research, wildlife studies, and extraction of invasive species. Categorically, each project falls in four areas: visitors' experiences, volunteerism and stewardship, research, and youth and family program facilitation.
