Marpress

Marpress is a polish publishing house located in Gdańsk. It was established in 1991 and
from the beginning it has drawn on the tradition and series of the former Morskie Publishing House. It publishes several series of publications, including Bałtyk (prose from the countries bordering the Baltic Sea), Maritime, Contemporary Prose from Gdańsk, historical books, popular science, and children's literature.

The aim of the project was to develop a new visual language and brand communication concept.
Project Scope: Research & Analysis, Strategy, Logo, Visual Identity System.

The logo

The new logo refers to the graphic emblem of the Morskie Publishing House. However, it contains a new symbolic element – a book that is also a sail. This graphic metaphor reminds us that literature allows us to travel and discover new places.

Brand Communication

The brand communication was built on a simple idea, which was expressed in the following sentence: "Through literature — we shorten the distance". It emphasizes that literature allows us to explore new places and cultures. However, it's also about bridging the gaps in history and human realtions.

The simple thought has gained its individual graphic and typographic expression. The dash — which in literature can be a carrier of emotions and a tool for emphasizing relationships — here gains a unique, long shape, reminiscent of the sea horizon.

The communication of changes within the brand utilizes phrases from sailing language, such as: We're setting a new course! We're catching the wind in our sails!
