The Topo is a vastly interconnected publication with each anecdote referring to others and the wide range of appendices and other supplemental material. Our app makes navigating those connections easier than ever. To create the app we built out a portion of the graphic map of connections between the different objects and anecdotes. Below is the diagram of our app, which includes functions specific to this digital format such as all of the previous editions of the Topo, the publication in its original languages, as well as voiceover options. 

Zoomed in to the heart of the app - Spoerri's table- it is easier to see just how interconnected all of the objects and anecdotes are. From one click off of the table a user can explore nearly every single object and supplemental material through the web of conversation. 

Following the path of our persona, this simplified diagram shows how Bohr moved through the app to have a short exploration of the apps different functions and a few of the objects and anecdotes. It is just as easy for a user to take a short exploration as it is for them to take a deep meandering dive. 

To keep the integrity of the Topo's original organization we created a system of stacking windows to track how deep into the anecdotes a user is while looking at a single object. The table below shows how each of the layers of reference are stacked onto one another. The table is the highest level index then users move into each object, their description then on into each anecdote that includes the author of the anecdote, the date it was written and our new illustrations of each contributor. On the left side of the screen the user's path is also tracked by showing the previous objects seen as they move through a path from anecdote to object to anecdote. The path and object list is renewed ever time a user returns to the original table.
