Learning But Never Knowing
Learning But Never Knowing is an experiment to reinvent an album as a book.  To bypass the physical CD or Album in favor of a digital music download but retain physicality as an asset, not merely an explanation.
"I will at length apply myself earnestly and freely to the general overthrow of all my former opinions." René Descartes

Learning But Never Knowing is a searching-through-opinions, a searching-through-experience and a searching-of-memory to explore the speed of assumption and change.

How far does this go? What happens in the media age when opinions fly quicker than we can process them? How do we step back?

Produced in collaboration with printmaker Amira Hegazy and photographer Sholeh Asgary, songwriter and performance artist Rachel Austin’s writing is unpredictable and full of colour. It requires you to look at your opinions and memory from every angle.

Includes a digital download of the 5-track EP Learning But Never Knowing by Rachel Austin.
This book is designed, printed, and bound by Amira Hegazy at Statement Press. It is risograph printed with teal, fluorescent pink and black inks at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago Printmedia Department. The text is set digitally in Adobe Garamond Pro. It is published in a first edition of 200 copies.
