Facial Dissection

Start of the facial 'dissection.' Latex was applied to the skin as the base, and then structures were mapped out. As of this point, I'm about 35 minutes into the piece.
First layer of painting, applying flat tones of acrylic paint, and sharpening edges with sharpie marker. About an hour into the piece as of now.
A little bit more build up in some of the muscles with acrylic highlights, and  sharpie dark tones. Approximately 3 hours has passed, and the structures are beginning to take shape.... especially that masseter, and buccinator. haha.
Here, the 'dissection' is near complete. The piece is about 95% done. Cranial Nerve VII has been added- depicting tits five branches of the Facial Nerve, as well as the Accessory Nerve (CN XI) . In addition, I've built up more highlights to all the striations, and darks were added with markers. About 5.5 hrs into the piece now, and the end is very definitely in sight.
The finished piece, detailing a facial dissection, showing off facial muscles, muscles of mastication, Facial Nerve (CN VII) and musculature / vasculature of the neck. The model was asked to weat that particular attire to tie into the vascualture of the neck, and make the clothers work with the overall piece. The finishing touches were spent really bringing out the adipose to make the  'cut' look and feel like removed skin. Overall, the piece took about 6.5 hrs . . .
