Progressive Design for Professional Kitchen Products

Unilever Food Solutions (UFS) is a division of the Unilever group of companies and one of the world’s leaders in the catering industry products. The company has earned a reputation among chefs in the HoReCa segment and food suppliers around the globe. The Knorr brand is the largest food brand in the world, meeting the needs of eaters both at home and outside. The products of the Knorr brand, which is part of the UFS division, are created to be used by chefs at professional kitchens, helping them to optimize their working processes and giving them time to enjoy their job.
Knorr has a wide range of products, and to highlight the products created especially for professional use, the Knorr Professional brand was chosen. This year, the global team updated the brand's design and created a new product visual image guide. The UFC representatives entrusted Yasno.brandingagency with the adaptation of Knorr Professional product packaging for the Russian market.
The global brand concept of Knorr Professional is a good current example of what a progressive brand should look like, with color coding, appealing food group, and structured technical info. From the point of view of graphic design, the packaging has become consistent with the Zeitgeist. The entire visual environment and graphic system of the brand was thoroughly worked out in the guide book, including recommendations for shooting product groups, the style of icons, corporatefonts, the color scheme of various categories; also, the hierarchy of information was developed, and adaptability to all formats was well-thought out.
To assemble design layouts from scratch and prepare them for printing, the brand team did a wide range of work: they conducted a shooting session for visualizing food groups together with professional chefs and a food stylist, retouched the images, made the layouts based on theguidebook and, finally, got the files for prepress.

Retouching the product images and preparing layouts of all formats have taken a significant part of the designers' working time. Taking into account the specifics of printing process and the different shapes of each product’s packaging, the technical designers prepared the files for printing individually for each medium: label and sticker.
