Democratising creative space

Around the clock access to over 600 studios worldwide. Professional standard spaces at an affordable price. Any one, any level, any time. Pirate are changing the game; making creative space accessible to all. Our job: capture the spirit at the heart of the brand. Create an identity that puts the artist community first.

Everything basic but the beats

Focus on the things that matter. Get the basics right. That’s the Pirate way. Arial was selected as the brand’s corporate typeface — freely licenced and accessible to all. We stripped away the corporate logo to emphasise the URL. We hijacked the sound recording symbol ℗ to act as a digital shorthand, using a glyph from the Arial typeface. Clear and direct. Against the status quo.

Make some noise

Forget fame and facade. Pirate exists to break down barriers. They empower artists to create something real. The brand creates impact and celebrates creative communities around the world. Applications use three settings of typographic stretch to create a distinctive aesthetic.

Coming in loud and clear

At locations around the world, place names are free-stretched on exterior frontages. Interior wayfinding repurposes an off-the-shelf modular racking system, reducing fit-out costs through an ownable and consistent approach.

We’re a disruptive company, always trying to find a better way to support our community. That’s why we wouldn't fall in line with looking like every other music tech brand.

— David Borrie, Co-founder

Welcome, all

Pirate have launched new initiatives reaching some of the most underserved creative communities around the world, including making free and discounted space available for artists during the global pandemic.

Special thanks to Mikey, Borrie, Chris and the rest of the team at Pirate.
