in 2019, the kind people of Pratham Books asked me to illustrate this heart warming story written by Yamini Vijayan about a girl who overcomes her stage fright worries and sings her heart out. The story is based out of Uttarakhand region, so I had fun placing the illustrations in its scenic environment. Very thankful to Yamini for helping me out with the references. I chose to dress Champa mostly in her school uniform because girls at young age in hilly areas dress similarly to a boy. It keeps them more warm, and it doubles up also as something you wear at home even once the school is over.
The illustrations were coloured in Procreate App over the pencil sketches done on paper.
