St. Mary's Art 2012–13 Posters

To celebrate St. Mary's Menston GCSE and A-level (15–19 years old) pupils' work and maintain the profile of Art & Design around school two different posters were created.

The posters designed in Adobe Photoshop and printed in A0 and A1 size by Quarmby Colour in Leeds. The material was 220 Micron UPVC.

Photographs were taken of the work when it was our annual Art Exhibition and on moderation Day. One of the poster designs shows many different pieces. It would not have looked good at smaller than A1 size. The images are cropped so they offer glimpses into to the work or highlight details.

A bright yellow typeface was chosen to complement the strong yellow shades in the portrait. The School crest and logotype were recoloured to match using Illustrator so it remained a vector, as was the 'Values, Care, Achievement'.

The posters are being framed and displayed in Art classrooms as well as around school. The project was deemed a success. Younger pupils get to see the interesting projects they will get to work on if they choose Art and Design as a subject to study at GCSE level.
