VR/AR Controller - motion tracking

What if your next VR/MR controller was made of paper, or biodegradable plastic?
After exploring physical UIs and home office UX, I started thinking about how we interact with physical things when it comes to the legacy of interactions and the insertion of technology. Google's Project Soli and even products like the HoloLens show that hand gestures could become the next big interface. Still, in my personal experience, I never felt satisfied with grabbing and pinching air. We don't really need objects to make interactions work, but we may not be ready yet to transition to completely new hand gestures.
I decided to make a molded paper controller that contains shapes and textures to locate and guide our hands and fingers but doesn't require all the plastics and electronics of today's devices.
Computer Vision combined with radiofrequency could help create an experience almost as good as the ones we have today, with added bonus of reducing waste.
Disclaimer: This is a concept where I'm exploring personal needs and learning new tools. Any disconnection with reality and current technology is just a result of my open, superficial, and naive approach to the problem. My focus is on the overall experience and idea rather than ergonomic and detailed shapes.
Thank you!
