FUSE - Food processor

FUSE
Food Processor - a speculative design for a post-pandemic hypochondriac world

Scenario
Covid19 is no longer a topic of conversation. But the fear of viruses, bacteria and germs has ingrained itself in the minds of mankind and continues to dominate behavior. 3 years ago a cotton mask and hand washing were enough to feel safe. Gloves and face protection followed. Nowadays, hardly anyone has no sterilisation chamber behind their front door.

Problem
And yet there are still infections. Most can be traced back to unclean food and unclean working environment in the kitchen.
A problem that can be eliminated with food processors.
Thats what FUSE does.

Food Safes
Sterilised, prefabricated food is packed airtight in bottle-like food safes and processed again into tasty - and above all - safe meals in just a few minutes using a state-of-the-art food processor. Without a human having to touch it; no chance for pathogens!

A question of good taste
To customise the taste of your food FUSE accommodates up to five supplemental spice cartridges that can be inserted on the devices top. Circular Interfaces indicate the amount of spices left in each cartridge.

speculative critical design
This product is the result of the design-speculative conflict between food production and 3D printing in a post-pandemic future.
The project is to be understood as a critical statement on modern, technologized eating habits.

lets kickstart FUSE
In its nature as speculative critical design the project should be received
'as-if-it-could-be-serious-and-true' .
To achieve that i decided to publish it first as a fake kickstarter campaign set in 2032. That way the recipient has to think about whether he or she wants to support the project and has to dive a bit deeper into what impact a device like FUSE could have.

peak behind the process
Since this device is designed during a period of lockdown in 2020 while a global pandemic affects our lives the design process relied heavily on AR - prototyping instead of traditional workshop prototypes.

Thank you very much
have a nice time and stay healthy
and remember to cook your own food
