Woodland Park Zoo Humboldt Penguin Exhibit

Woodland Park Zoo: Humboldt Penguin Exhibit
Seattle, WA
MCD designed immersive elements to give visitors the feeling they walked into a fishing village in Peru, in a coastal desert, home to the largest Humboldt penguin conservation reserve in the world.

The elements include murals, authentic Peruvian street art-style graphics, and an area to recognize donors, partners, and friends of the zoo.

The Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) honored Woodland Park Zoo with the Exhibit Achievement Award for the Humboldt penguin exhibit. The prestigious award is an equivalent to an Oscar in the zoo and aquarium industry.

The 92-acre Woodland Park Zoo has won more Best National Exhibit awards from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums than any other zoological institution except the Bronx Zoo in New York.
