For the visual aspect of the film, I aim to have a very low-key lighting approach with a strong use of colour as a visual motif. There will be a lot of deep shadows, contrast, and vibrancy depending on the shot. My goal is to create an almost melancholic, nostalgic feeling through the visuals.
Here are a few stills from some of my favourite films that meet my goals. I have also included a series of Instagram photo's from artists and a few videos to have a better idea of camera movement/ mise en scène.
I often like using colour as a way to depict a certain emotion, feeling, point in the film, action, character, etc., in the story. You may notice that there is quite an array of colours, mainly in the warmer/ cooler tones.

For the musical aspect of the film, I aim to have very orchestral, dramatic scores that tell another story within the story. The score is crucial to help convey the main emotions I want to pull from each scene (longing, nostalgia, melancholy, isolation, sadness, uplifting, hope, etc.). Johnny is a very quiet character with a loud mind. The score will be a crucial key to help not only bring together a scene, but to create a narrative and true understanding of what Johnny is going through throughout the film.
