Building a Nation: 40 Years of the UAE in Pictures

Gulf News, the largest daily newspaper in the UAE and Gulf, has been part of the growth of the United Arab Emirates. As part of the national celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates, Gulf News wanted to publish a book that could represent the remarkable political, social, and economic developments that the country has enjoyed.

The assignment was to design a coffee table book of 400 pages with a unique collection of almost 800 pictures that range from the areesh villages of the 1950s, through the rulers negotiating and preparing for the formation of the UAE in the late 1960s, up to the modern day’s busy cities of the Twenty First Century.
