Brief
Tasked with creating a typeface inspired by a South African building, I chose the Bidvest Bank in Sandton. To display the typeface we needed to create a booklet and a poster.
Building
I chose this building because of the modern style and interesting angles that could inspire my typeface, there is also a soft change from the weight of the building that I would later use in the design of the typeface.
Type Grid
The grid was created from inspiration serif typefaces such as Garamond, Trajon and Aster. The diagonal lines were taken directly from the building. The spacing between the lines of the typeface comes from the windows of the building.
Augustus Typeface
The Augustus typeface is a classic serif and was named after the designer.
