This is a book redesign project I created using Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The project was to redesign a book where type is the main component or element of the piece. I chose to redesign the cover for The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. For this project, I experimented with using perspective and creating a visual hierarchy with type. I decided to use perspective as my main visual effect for the text in order to form the walls of the house in relation to the concept of ‘home’ that is prevalent in the novel. I started with a few directions and as I went through the process I began to look into color, font styles, and simplifying the shapes down to more abstract forms. In my final design I used a sans-serif typeface for the title and author’s name and a serif typeface for the body text.
