As a result of the pandemic, many restaurants and food services had transitioned to a take-out or delivery option to enforce social distancing, resulting in many dining in. The assignment for this project focused on redesigning a safe, socially distant, dine-in experience through creating a food service brand with an online presence, ordering/menu system, packaged products, and other brand collateral. As part of the assignment, the initial concept was formed within a group and then designed individually to create multiple design approaches for the same concept. Through the brainstorming and research process, the approach that was taken with this project was a family-oriented meal-kit that aimed to create an outdoor backyard camping and dine-in experience. Each kit would include a meal, dessert, drinks, recipe cards, badges, and activities for kids that incorporated a learning aspect to the experience. For my individual brand, I wanted to incorporate a style that was vintage but also bold and colorful.
