The Spectrum's Special Issue
Best of Buffalo

During the Fall 2019 semester, I worked as the creative director at the University at Buffalo's student ran newspaper, The Spectrum. Throughout my time at The Spectrum, I created several graphic design elements such as infographics and special issue covers, such as this one.

The Best of Buffalo issue focuses on the UB student's favorite spots in Buffalo, NY. Given the diverse student population at UB, this issue is a very important one, as it showcases the best of the city that has become a home away from home for so many UB students. The Best of Buffalo issue is one of the ten or so special issues that The Spectrum releases throughout any given semester.

The design brief for designing the Best of Buffalo cover was to design a captivating above the fold graphic that would catch the eye of students walking to class. Using the iconic buffalo, the name of the city and also UB's mascot, and photographs from a few of the best spots in Buffalo, I designed an editorial and captivating graphic.
The Best of Buffalo issue also showcased the new masthead and logo I created as the creative director at The Spectrum. The new masthead and logo are modernized and simplified versions of the old versions.
