Behance Year in Review 2023

Behance Year in Review 2023
Published December 13, 2023 by the Behance Team

Behance’s founding mission is to build a platform where creatives can share and get discovered for their work. Over the last 18 years, we’ve grown to a vibrant community of nearly 50 million creatives from every corner of the globe.

Our members are creating and sharing work that encompasses every major and niche creative field, from graphic design to photography and illustration to 3D art, motion design, fashion, industrial design, paper crafts, and more.

Our focus this year has been on building features that empower our members to further their creativity and their careers, from finding new full-time jobs and freelance opportunities to diversifying their portfolio through digital asset sales.

We loved this analogy by branding design duo Shiraz & Daryan, who have been growing their creative career by leaps and bounds on Behance this year:

“Behance is like our communal garden, and we’re committed to nurturing it with the same enthusiasm as our own creative spirit. As we pour our energy into this fertile ground, we’re not just planting our projects; we’re sowing seeds of connection across the globe. Our portfolio is a living, breathing entity that thrives with each new piece of work and interaction. We think of it as a blossoming orchard where every project we graft onto our branches can bear fruit in the form of multicultural connections and opportunities.”

Here’s a look back at the key updates we launched this year that are designed to help you find more creative opportunities and make more money doing what you love.

Creative Services

Last year we launched our Hire page, a directory of over one million creatives who are available for freelance projects and full-time work. We also added a new filter to showcase specific  Creative Services offered by Behance members. Creative Services are specific projects that freelancers are available to do, and each listing gives you full transparency into the budget, scope, timeline, as well as the number of conceptions and revisions.

“I recently had the opportunity to work on a custom logo design project through Behance. Collaborating on this project was a positive and rewarding experience for both me and the client. The initial contact for the project began on Instagram, but we swiftly transitioned everything to Behance to utilize its secure platform. This ensured that the financial aspect of the project was conducted safely and transparently. It's important to note that both designers and clients work hard for their money, and maintaining trust and confidence in the process is crucial.”

“Behance acts as a conduit for connecting with clients who share our ethos, those looking for brand strategists who not only design but also deeply comprehend the cross-cultural fabric of today's marketplace. It’s not just the list of clients that grew—it’s our creative horizons and friendships. For all of this, we’re incredibly thankful to Behance. It’s opened doors to not just business growth, but personal and artistic growth as well.”

Featured Freelancers

To help connect clients to qualified freelance artists, we’ve hand-picked a group of creative professionals based on their exceptional portfolios and proven freelance experience. Their profiles are marked with a Featured Freelancer badge so you can hire with confidence and pay them directly and securely on Behance.

“Behance has played a significant role in expanding my client list, particularly when I had the opportunity to become a Featured Freelancer. I was tasked with creating a logo for a clothing brand with a unique inspiration: retro-vintage airline logos and posters, a style that I truly feel and enjoy. Effective communication was key, and the client was so pleased with the outcome that they promised to send me a piece of their clothing line once they launch!”

Kostya Petrenko, logo designer

“2023 was my best year on Behance so far. Because I had some targets to reach and I really shifted my focus from freelancer platforms to Behance, believing that the client portfolio and projects would be better. I had a target of adding at least one project per month and I reached that target so far, this result makes me happy. I'm seeing a lot of traffic coming my way after being Featured Freelancer. Since I added my Services, I have received many messages from potential clients and 4 of them turned into paid projects. Also I received some features which made me very happy and helped me reach more people on the platform.”

Assets on Behance

Digital assets are a valuable resource for kickstarting a creative project, executing a vision, and learning industry best practices. Attach downloadable files to any Behance project to sell your assets to the world’s biggest creative community. Set your own price and license type for each asset and continue to monetize on multiple platforms.

“From 2016 to today I have leveraged Behance as a central platform to showcase my design portfolio and connect with a global community of fellow creatives and clients. Behance brings together a large group of talented people in one place and it is great! Selling digital assets on Behance has been a highly positive discovery for me. The platform's user-friendly interface and built-in marketplace have allowed me to share my work with a wider audience and meet new customers.”

Iuliia Mazur, graphic designer

“Selling assets on Behance has been great. Behance is the main platform I use to grow an audience so all my projects were already uploaded. All I had to do was attach a few files, set a price and that was it. So far I've made over $1,000 selling assets on Behance with just a few clicks of the mouse, and the money keeps coming in.”
