An entrepreneurial leader with more than two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Fuad El-Hibri serves as the Executive Chairman of Emergent BioSolutions in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Fuad El-Hibri holds a position on the board of trustees for the El-Hibri Foundation, which strives for a diverse and inclusive world where anyone can achieve the American Dream. Its initiatives include the Peace Awards Program.

The program aims to offset the incitement of fear, hate, and division spread by prominent media and political figures by highlighting individuals who work tirelessly to foster inclusion, understanding, and community collaboration. It looks for dedicated leaders throughout the country that empower others and build bridges among peoples of varying faith and origins in order to create a better society. Furthermore, the program emphasizes the importance of amplifying and supporting leaders who promote social change and inclusion in all forms.

Every year, the Peace Awards Program recognizes leaders in three awards categories: the Fearless Ally Award, the Young Leader Award, and the El-Hibri Peace Education Prize. Awards come with a monetary prize of $5,000 for the Fearless Ally and Young Leader Awards, and $30,000 for the Education Prize. Winners are announced at the annual ceremony in the fall in Washington, DC.

The 2016 Peace Awards winners include Eboo Patel, Brie Loskota, and Namira Islam. For more information on the program and the 2016 winners, visit elhibrifoundation.org/peaceawardsprogram.
