Fuad El-Hibri Creates the El-Hibri Peace Education

A supporter of a number of charitable organizations that promote peace and social justice around the world, business executive Fuad El-Hibri established the El-Hibri Peace Education Prize in 2007. The award is given to individuals or organizations who work vigorously to foster peacemaking through their curriculum. Fuad El-Hibri also serves as chairman of the board of trustees of the El-Hibri Charitable Foundation.

The prize selection committee puts each nominee through a meticulous screening process, assessing the nominee’s contribution to peace education practice, theory, and social impact. Additionally, the committee looks at any other awards or achievements in peace education of the nominee. Past prize laureates include Dr. Betty Reardon, founder of The Peace Education Center at Columbia University, American University professor Abdul Aziz Said, and peace educator and journalist Colman McCarthy.

The El-Hibri Peace Education Prize, which raises awareness of the importance of putting peace education into school curricula, is presented every year in Washington, DC, at the El-Hibri Peace Education Prize Ceremony.
